Julia Johnson, Rita B, and Hedy Blaazer present the “Freewheelin' Spin-A-Wheel Tour", a unique show where “in the round” performance style meets “choose your own adventure” audience participation. The three songwriters share the stage, performing solo renditions of their originals and sharing the stories behind the songs. Audience members are invited up to spin a prize wheel with different song themes, keeping the set list random and the performers on their toes. Opening the night will be Hollie Matthew performing a combo of wretched blues and sad country.
Opening the night... Hollie Matthew performs a combination of wretched blues, sad country and dark Australian folk. Expect emotive and dynamic vocals married to minor chords. In the round... Julia Johnson is an Australian singer, songwriter, producer and multi instrumentalist. Her voice has been compared to Florence Welch, Joni Mitchell, Bat For Lashes, and even a ‘treacherous mountain river'. On stage, Johnson's warm presence and unpredictable banter usher you into her folk-tinged musical universe, where she brandishes antique folk instruments with exceptional and unusual techniques. Rita B is a Wollongong-based Alt-Folk artist. She's raw and honest and makes music that is unfiltered, uncorrupted and totally unapologetic. With an ability to write and sing about darker and edgier topics, her songs highlight how she never puts restrictions on her craft and embraces the ebb and flow of her feelings. Rita B's one of a kind voice must be seen to be believed. Hedy Blaazer is a Sydney/Canberra-based singer- songwriter and guitarist. Her lyrics are ‘honest', ‘emotional and raw', her music ‘unique' and ‘genre-bending'. Her voice has been described as ‘stunning', ‘beautifully distinct' and ‘simply sublime'. She has become one of the most creative and rewarding artists in the current alternative folk scene and is set to be a name that matters in this era of great Australian music.
